One of the great red grapes of Italy, with more scope for long term ageing than almost any other. Tannic, acidic and deep in colour, the resultant wines can be massively structured, with extraordinary scenes of violets and tar, with a powerful palate to match. Despite the fact that it is only really found in Piedmont (and very rarely the Americas) its importance cannot be overstated. Any lover of Barolo and Barbaresco (which are both 100% Barolo) will testify to the fact that Nebbiolo is perhaps the greatest of all Italian varieties.

Castagni Reverdito Barolo is brick red in colour with a nose of cherry, raspberry, strawberry, mocha, leather and floral notes. It is full-bodied with bright acidity, lean tannins, and rich flavors of raspberries, cherries, anise, oak and spice.

Medium red in colour with brick tones. On the nose, this wine is all spices and cloves. On the palate, it is lean with a great structure. It has flavours of bitter cherries and earthy liquorice. The finish is good with a lingering persistence in the mouth.

The “Vigna Rionda” vineyard is in one of the best positions in Serralunga: when Giovanni and Renato Massolino decided to buy it, they exchanged it for a larger vineyard. It produces a powerful, concentrated wine, suitable for long ageing.
